Local schools succeed at 2013 ProStart Culinary Team Competition

Tampa Bay, Florida-- Congratulations are in order for students of Tarpon Springs High School, Leto High School and Avon Park High School as teams from each stood out among 55 Florida schools at the 13th Annual ProStart Culinary Team Competition last week in Orlando.

Teams from schools across the state were judged on their preparation of a gourmet meal, their ability to create a business proposal for a new restaurant, their creative design of an edible centerpiece and their finishing touches during an event called "the waiter’s relay race."

PRECO Selects Students for Washington DC Trip

Wauchula, Florida-- Two local 11th graders were selected by Peace River Electric Cooperative (PRECO) to attend the national “Youth Tour to Washington DC” event, a weeklong tour with1,500 students from 46 states.

Shakera Latimore of Southeast High School in Bradenton, and Savannah Miller of Hardee High School in Wauchula, along with about 30 other students from Florida electric cooperatives, will enjoy the rich history of the nation’s Capitol firsthand.
