Highlands County Health Department to host trauma rule workshop

Highlands County, Florida-- The Florida Department of Health will host its sixth trauma rule workshop next month at the Highlands County Health Department. 

Community and stakeholder input is welcomed in this public discussion regarding the creation of a new trauma rule. 

The workshop is scheduled Thursday, March 28,  from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Highlands County Health Department is located at 7205 South George Boulevard, Sebring, FL 33873.

Sebring, FL-- The Inaugural Heartland Health & Wellness Expo will take place in Downtown Sebring next Friday and Saturday, January 11-12 at the Highlands County Fair & Convention Center. 

The event kicks off at 8 a.m. and will last through 4 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday it will take place from 8 a.m. to noon.

Sebring VA Community Clinic to Relocate

Sebring, FL-- The Sebring VA Community Clinic located at 3760 U.S. Highway 27 South in Sebring, Fla. will close on Nov. 16 at 4:30 p.m. and reopen to serve Veterans at a new, larger location on Nov. 19 at 8:00 a.m.

 

The new clinic building is located approximately two miles south of the current location at 5901 U.S. Highway 27 South in the Beverly Center Plaza.

Crystal River, FL-- On Wednesday, November 14, the Citrus Memorial Diabetes Center will host a Diabetes Fair as part of its ongoing effort to inform and educate the community about diabetes management, medication and preventing complications. 

The fair will be held from 9 a.m.- noon in the Citrus Memorial Auditorium, 402 Grace Street in Inverness, on the main Citrus Memorial campus. 

Health information and community resources will also be available, as well as door prizes and light refreshments.

Winn Dixie: Voluntary recall in Central and South Florida stores

Central and South Florida-- Winn-Dixie announced an immediate voluntary recall of select cut fruit produced by the Renaissance Food Group Friday. 

The recall, taking place in Central and South Florida Winn Dixie stores only, serves as a precaution because the prodcuts contain a mango ingredient that has the potential of being contaminated with Salmonella braenderup, Winn Dixie representatives said in a release. 

The products with Daniella Brand Mangoes distributed by Splendid Products are a part of the recall. They are as follows:

Tallahassee, Florida-- The Federal Emergency Management Agency, also know as FEMA, teams up with home improvement stores to provide information and advice on cleaning up and rebuilding homes after Tropical Storm Debby.

FEMA mitigation specialists - who can explain disaster-resistant ways to repair and rebuild -  will be in Highlands, Hillsborough and Polk counties beginning tomorrow, July 25, a release from the Joint Field Office in Tallahassee explains.
