Lake Placid, Florida -- The Highlands County Sheriff's Office is investigating the stabbing of one man, and the battery of another at a Lake Placid liquor store Sunday.

Deputies say 41-year-old Ernest Bristol told them he was jumped by several men inside the Highway Park Liquor Store at 101 Vision Street.

Sebring, Florida -- Deputies in Highlands County are reporting a spike in the number of car burglaries across the county, and Sheriff Susan Benton says most of the break-ins could be prevented.

Thieves are targeting small high value items such as GPS units and I-pods and, in most cases, the Sheriff says the items are left in the vehicle unlocked in plain sight.

Other items targeted include cash, along with wallets and purses containing credit cards and other forms of personal identification.

Sebring, Florida -- A Sebring mother is under arrest charged with violation of an injunction following the abduction of her two sons Monday.

Sheriff's investigators say Lisa Lyons is charged with picking up her 15- and 12-year-old boys in a gray Nissan and driving them to Fort Pierce without the permission of their father. Investigators say in doing so, Lyons violated a court order.

The two boys were located unharmed and taken into custody by authorities in Fort Pierce where they were picked up by their father.
