Conference focuses on housing choices

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Tampa Bay Fair Housing Consortium will present Housing Choices, Free of Discrimination on Friday, April 19.

Check-in is at 8 a.m. The program runs from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The day-long conference will be held at the Centre Club, 123 S. West Shore Blvd. in Tampa.

The game will take place at the SFSC Panther Field on the Highlands Campus in Avon Park at 1 p.m.

Over 70 trailers stolen, sold in scrap metal scheme

Polk County, Florida-- Three men have been linked to over 70 citrus trailer thefts that occurred all over Polk County between 2010 and 2013. 

According to Polk County Sheriff's officials, brothers Ruben and Richard Ramirez, 39 and 31-years-old, worked alongside 60-year-old Donald Mosley to steal the trailers from various citrus packing houses, and then sell the metal to scrap dealers in Polk, Hillsborough and Hardee Counties.

Bucs accepting noms for "Mother's Day Makeovers"

Tampa, Florida --  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Fourth Annual "Mother's Day Makeover" program is giving away a once-in-a-lifetime experience to 50 mothers from Central Florida in honor of Mother's Day. 

Continuing the tradition from 2012, the Buccaneers are excited to support military moms who go above and beyond for their loved ones.

"A new day" for Florida's foster children

Tallahassee, Florida -- Foster children in Florida have to live by very different rules than a typical kid. They can't just go to the beach with friends without getting approval from the state or they can't join a soccer team without consulting their case manager.

The children, and their foster parents, thought the rules went too far.

That all changed on Thursday. Foster children and their parents gathered at the state Capitol to celebrate legislation that removes many of those unreasonable regulations.
